I was diagnosed 12 years ago with breast cancer. For the first ten years, only my husband and closest family knew my SECRET. I didn't tell anyone. I was afraid of what they would say. 'What will they tell other people if they knew?" So, I lived with my SECRET for all those years. 'I dreaded bumping into anyone that might find out. Carol El Jabari, Global Cancer Ambassador visits New York City and the United Nations
There are intensive talks under way to get Non communicable diseases (NCD's) including cancer into documents for approval at High Level meetings of the UN in September 2011. Carol and other global cancer ambassadors have been working hard with the media, politicians and others to get decisions in place so countries can provide better prevention, awareness and access to care, especially palliative care and essential medicines.
